Go Youn-jung Makes Her Variety Show Debut on You Quiz on the Block — “Still Not Fully a Celebrity?” Honest and Down-to-Earth Charm Shines

Actress Go Youn-jung made her first-ever appearance on a variety talk show, captivating viewers with her candid personality and unexpected charm. Appearing on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, she shared her journey from debut to current projects, bringing warmth and relatability to the screen.

Go currently stars in Resident Playbook (the spin-off of Hospital Playlist), playing Oh I-young, a first-year OB-GYN resident at Yulje Medical Center. Director Shin Won-ho, who also leads the series, jokingly commented, “She’s a wonderful actress, but she’s still not quite a celebrity,” revealing her grounded nature. He added that during auditions, her speech felt like that of a fifth-grade boy—unfiltered and sincere—which made her stand out.

Despite initial nerves, Go greeted viewers with a bright smile and immediately showcased her laid-back, cheerful vibe. Her casual banter with hosts Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Se-ho helped create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. A graduate of Seoul Women’s University with a major in Western Painting, she even demonstrated her artistic skills on the show.

Go opened up about her past—how she transitioned from studying fine art to acting, her unexpected discovery as a magazine cover model, and her early days balancing part-time jobs with acting training. Her real-life experiences resonated with many viewers, especially young adults navigating similar paths.

She also reflected on her role in Resident Playbook, sharing the excitement and gratitude she felt joining the cast. Her frequent “rookie phrases” like “I’m sorry,” “Can I try again?”, “Thank you,” and “Great work today!” added a relatable and humorous touch.

Toward the end of the show, Go expressed her passion for acting, saying, “I want to enjoy this work for a long time and become an actress people always look forward to.”
