I.O.I, the project girl group formed through Mnet’s 2016 survival show Produce 101 Season 1, is reportedly discussing a reunion project to mark their 10th debut anniversary. The group, which originally consisted of 11 members including Jeon Somi, Kim Sejeong, Chung Ha, Choi Yoojung, Jung Chaeyeon, and Kim Doyeon, is aiming to release a special track as a gift to their loyal fans.

According to industry insiders, the members have expressed a strong desire to reunite and have initiated talks with their respective agencies to coordinate the project. On the 15th, a source close to the matter stated, "The members are enthusiastic about the reunion and have conveyed their intentions to their agencies. However, as they are all affiliated with different agencies, scheduling and management discussions are still ongoing."
This is not the first time I.O.I has attempted to reunite. In 2019, plans for a comeback were initially discussed but ultimately fell through due to the vote-rigging controversy surrounding the Produce 101 series. Despite the setback, the group's enduring popularity and the 10th anniversary milestone have reignited talks for a reunion.
I.O.I officially disbanded in January 2017 after releasing their final digital single, "Downpour," but the group briefly reunited for an online live broadcast in April 2021 to celebrate their 5th anniversary. Now, fans are hopeful that the upcoming 10th anniversary project will bring the members back together for one more memorable stage.
An insider emphasized, "Although the members are currently busy with individual schedules, their commitment to making this reunion happen is evident. Further discussions regarding the project timeline and promotional activities are expected to continue."
If confirmed, the reunion project will mark the group’s first official comeback since disbandment, potentially rekindling the magic that made I.O.I one of the most successful project girl groups in K-pop history.
