On May 26, YG Entertainment released a special interview video titled “BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, AND UPCOMING ROOKIES | YG ANNOUNCEMENT” through its official blog. In his first public appearance in seven months, Yang Hyun-suk personally shared updates that have sparked excitement across the global K-pop community. (The video includes English subtitles.)

BLACKPINK to Release New Music After Nearly 3 Years

Yang revealed that BLACKPINK will soon release a new song, marking their return nearly three years after their second full-length album BORN PINK was released in September 2022. The group is also set to embark on a new large-scale world tour beginning July 5.

BABYMONSTER Sets Aggressive Release Schedule

YG’s rising rookie group BABYMONSTER will stay busy throughout the year. The group is set to drop a pre-release single titled HOT SAUCE on July 1, followed by a second single in September and a mini album on October 1. Yang described HOT SAUCE as a highly addictive track inspired by mid-to-late 1980s hip-hop, designed as a summer gift for fans. He noted that the group's performance on such a retro genre turned out to be "highly satisfying."

TREASURE to Drop New Mini Album and Launch World Tour

TREASURE will also return with a new mini album on September 1 and kick off a world tour in October. Yang expressed his commitment to ensuring that the group releases at least two albums annually and maintains active engagements with fans.

New 4-Member Girl Group Coming Soon

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the announcement was Yang’s confirmation of a new YG girl group. While no exact debut date was revealed, he disclosed that a four-member girl group is already in final preparations. The group will be introduced gradually, with trainee practice videos scheduled to be released starting May 28.

“Just like we did with BABYMONSTER, we’ll reveal the practice videos so fans can evaluate the members’ raw talent,” Yang said. He also emphasized that while the group’s official debut is likely to come after BABYMONSTER’s current promotional cycle, preparations are in full swing.

Yang further revealed that YG is currently training two boy groups and two girl groups, with at least one new boy group expected to debut next year. “We’ve transformed our internal systems significantly over the past year,” he said, noting that expanding YG’s artist IP remains a top priority. “From the second half of this year onward, we’ll show you the upgraded YG.”

At the end of the interview video, a teaser message flashed on screen:

“THE FIRST MEMBER OF YG'S NEXT GIRL GROUP. STAY TUNED.”

With this bold statement and Yang’s visible confidence, global fans are already buzzing with curiosity about the mysterious new lineup.

YG Entertainment is now poised for one of its most active and strategically significant periods in recent years—driven by major comebacks, rookie group debuts, and the expansion of its global artist portfolio.
